    $850.00
Understanding the intricate relationship between muscles and bones is essential for anyone involved in yoga teaching or therapy. When you fully understand how muscles contract, relax, and work in tandem to move our skeleton, you gain a profound insight into human movement.
This knowledge allows you to identify patterns, imbalances, and potential areas of dysfunction in your clients. By recognizing how different muscle groups collaborate to produce specific movements, you can tailor your instruction and therapeutic approach to suit individual needs and outcomes.
For instance, being aware of how the different fibers of the hip muscles work enables you to introduce modifications to 'prehab' a client prior to hip replacement.
Furthermore, this understanding empowers you to innovate by incorporating new techniques and practices into your classes or sessions—setting you apart as a leader in your field. When your students see that you can bridge anatomy with practical application, they'll feel more confident in your abilities.

Larry Thraen is the reason I became a yoga teacher. As a longtime, dedicated practitioner in Houston during the height of my TV career as a crime reporter, I would find myself in Larry's classes over and over again as a way to decompress, learn and explore my inner world while reconciling with the outer world.

After many months of regularly attending his classes, Larry said to me: "You know, you'd be a great teacher! You're here all the time. You have a beautiful practice, a strong voice and authentic presence. You should think about my next training."

Larry saw potential in me that I didn't yet see in myself. I attribute much, if not all of my success as an experienced yoga teacher, global retreat leader and movement specialist to Larry. Having the opportunity to observe his love of yoga, teaching and travel inspired me to think big-- take on new challenges-- and meet adversity along the way, with optimism.

Before registering for his 200-hour teacher training, I remember telling Larry, "I don't know how I could possibly fit this into my work schedule." He said, "Sonia, if the Universe wants this to happen for you, it will work out." And, I am grateful every day that it did.

Two other Larry-isms that I love:

"Yoga will ruin your life." (... It has! My whole life changed and I am no longer in 'settling' mode... I have made bold and courageous moves that I never before would've dreamed of... It rearranged my whole trajectory.)

"This will be the first of many trainings." (He was right! Larry's 200-hour teacher training was the first step in a lengthy path of personal evolution and education around movement science, myofascial release, neuroscience, meditation, Reiki, Sound Healing, Yin and Chinese medicine... and there is, undoubtedly, more to come!)

Larry's expertise in functional movement and yoga has been a transformative force in my life. His tailored exercises and deep understanding of body mechanics have alleviated the chronic pain in my neck, shoulders, and back, which once seemed an inevitable consequence of my desk-bound profession. Previously, I found myself visiting the chiropractor every month to get adjustments that offered only temporary relief. However, since starting weekly sessions with Larry a few years back, the need for those chiropractic visits has disappeared, as my body has become stronger and more resilient, a testament to his skill in fostering long-term well-being. Larry's approach goes beyond mere physical training, his caring and compassionate nature makes it evident that he is genuinely invested in the health and happiness of his clients. His holistic knowledge of the body and its interconnected systems has not only improved my physical condition but also enriched my understanding of wellness. Larry is more than an instructor; he is a dedicated ally in the journey towards a balanced and pain-free life.
